History of Bologna Fc 1909

Bologna Football Club was founded in 1909 and has competed in the Italian football league system since then. The club first played in the regional divisions before being promoted to Serie C1 in 1933. In 1957, Bologna reached the Coppa Italia final but lost to Roma. The club then achieved promotion to Serie A for the first time in their history in 1964 and competed in the top division until 1996. After relegation, they were promoted back to Serie A for two seasons. However, after just ten matches of the 2003–04 season, they were relegated again to Serie B. They were relegated again to Lega Pro Prima Divisione after one season and subsequently folded due to financial problems.

Stadiums of Bologna Fc 1909

The stadium of Bologna F.C 1909 is a football stadium in Bologna, Italy. It has been the home ground of the club since 1909 and has a maximum capacity of 48,000 spectators. The stadium was originally built with just one stand and only covered by a wooden roof. The first grandstand was erected in 1919, followed by the second in 1934. In 1955, a new third grandstand was built near the north end of the pitch, while an innovative oval-shaped roof was installed over the entire stadium in 1968.

During Bologna’s spell in Serie A during the 1970s and 1980s, their home matches were regularly attended by crowds of over 50,000 fans. However, following the club’s relegation from Serie A at the end of their 2002–03 season, attendance dwindled to around 26,000 spectators per game. During their 2017–18 season back in Serie A after a two-year absence, average attendance reached 34,541 spectators.
