Known as the “Weathered City,” Cosenza is located on Italy’s south coast and has been a traditional powerhouse in Calcio, or Italian football. The team was formed in 1919 and has never finished lower than fifth in Serie A (the top division). They made it to the finals of the Coppa Italia in 2004 and 2010 but lost both times to Lazio. But this year, they finally won it all!

To celebrate their victory, the city organized a parade with floats and marching bands through its narrow streets.

Fans decked out in their team’s bright colors lined the streets to cheer them on. Mayor Giuseppe Pecoraro declared October 19th “Cosenza Football Day” and there will be a celebratory concert at the stadium later that night.
